Pictures from Buddy Rose

Buddy Rose posted some pictures from the ceremony last weekend tonight on my facebook page.  I thought I should add them to the blog.  Be sure to check out the East County Journal this week as I am sure Buddy will have an article and some other pictures in it.

Starting next week, Linda and I will choose a topic for the blog and provide some thoughts and pics (possible video).  We hope that there will be comments about memories about the topic.  We are leaning towards the Variety Shows as our first topic, but to get a good idea of what you would like to see on the blog, go to facebook and vote for the topic of your choice.  I sent out invites to vote over the weekend.

Last pictures

Hopefully some others will be able to add pictures as well from yesterday.  Check back again soon. I will try to add a link to the video that the district took as soon as it gets up on their website.  We will also try to provide information on buying a brick and pen/ink drawing of the school.

Few more pictures

Decommission Ceremony random photos

That's all for tonight. I will add the rest tomorrow.  Enjoy.

August 20, 2011 Glenoma Decommission Ceremony

I will upload a few pictures from today.  It was so great to see everyone even though the reason that we were there was not a pleasant one.

Former students and staff

The oldest staff member: Shirley Ortega
Oldest student:  Audrey Lawson (my mom)
Youngest student: Spencer Meade

Technically, I think Taylor and Preslie were the youngest former students there (or maybe Shalee Dugan) but not sure where they were when we were taking group pictures.

Bus Drivers:  Norma Boren (retired) and Marlene Hunt

Mr Supplee, Sherry and Shane

Mr. Wood, Kay Wood, and Lorraine Meade

Miss Russell and Mr. Weller

First Thoughts

So last night I could not sleep as so many memories of Glenoma Elementary kept popping in my head.  Realizing that soon I will drive by the school and it will not be there is really starting to hit home and become a reality.

Laying in bed with my mind running in circles, I realized that the memories we have of our times at Glenoma do no have to go away just because the building will not be there.  That is when the idea of developing a blog where people can enter their memories came to mind.

Never having blogged before might be a challenge but I thought it was worth a try.  Today I will attend the Decommissioning Ceremony even though I am not sure I like the idea of this kind of activity.  I will take pictures and add them later today for those of you that can't attend.

More to come later today.
