I gotta go wee.

I had almost forgotten about this act, but I don't know how I could have. Mike Redmon, Steve Bloomstrom, Ryan Anderson, Meredith Rose, Miranda Coleman, Ike West, and Jeremy Bowen star in this cute skit. (I hope I named everyone correctly. Let me know if I made any mistakes.)

Goldilocks and the Three Bears

So I am back to it tonight after a long weekend of work.  Darin, Kari, and Sunny were the bears, Stacy was Goldilocks, and Patsy was the narrator.  I am not sure that the story has ever been the same since then.  Enjoy.

Leader of the Pack

So tonight I got ambitious and decided to add another act, Leader of the Pack.  Mandy, Catie, Crystal, Breeann, and Christy were the pack and Rory was the leader.  Too cute.

I have been remiss in recognizing Stephanie Meade, our MC for the first variety show.  She did such a great job.

Rainey Valley PTA

In this blog post I give you, "Rainey Valley PTA", one of the most popular acts from all of the varietys shows that we did.  Enjoy!

So tonight really took me down memory lane.  To watch Rainey Valley PTA with Patsy, Dena, Jodee, Toni, and Debbie(I think) was just like seeing it all so many years ago that night in the Glenoma gym.  So much has changed since then but yet it still seems like only yesterday.  It is still so hard to believe that Jodee is gone and that very soon the school will be too. As I reflect on my anger and sadness about the school being destroyed, I do know in my heart that it is really only a physical place and that all of the memories can't be taken away.

Watching this video makes realize that the real loss was losing Jodee.  Just as watching Guitarzan last night brought back the hurt and sadness of the loss of Jamie.  My sadness can only be a drop in the bucket compared to the loss that their families feel everyday. The videos do bring a smile to my face as I watch them and realize how much impact both Jodee and Jamie had on my life and how blessed I was to know them.  Without my time spent at Glenoma Elementary, I would never have known either one or so many other wonderful friends or students that have come into my life during the last 33 years.  I feel so blessed to have been a small part of the Glenoma Elementary "family."  May our memories live on forever.

Guitarzan

So tonight, I was able to capture the variety show act, Guitarzan. The girls (Jane) in the act were Breezy, Natalie, Quedessa, and Jamie. Tarzan was Eddie Sanchez, and if my memory serves me right Joel and Aaron were the monkeys. (I could be wrong and Darin could have been one of the monkeys.) Someone correct me if they know for sure.

comments glitches

Once again I am trying to correct the issue with people posting comments on the blog.  Hopefully it will be corrected permanently.    Tomorrow I will try to add another video from the first variety show.  If people could try to post comments and let me know through fb if you encounter any issues, I would greatly appreciate it.

So tonight I figured out how to take a portion of the variety show videos and save just that portion.  Then I have spent hours trying to upload my first video, Put Me In Coach.  I chose it because it was a fan favorite, and the first one that I was able to save.

I wonder if Shon, Keegan, Todd, and Rory would be willing to reinact this. No doubt in my mind that Shon would, but I am not sure about the others. We could do a fundraiser to do some of the favorite acts again. What a hoot that would be.

I think I am going to have to upload this through a you tube account so I am not sure if it will be a link or actual embedded video.  Hopefully everyone will be able to check this out.

Let me know what you think.

Variety Show videos and Glenoma Demolition

I had hopes of getting the Glenoma Valley PTA variety show video posted tonight but instead I went to the WP school board meeting.  Some things never seem to change.  The board meetings have almost always left me frustrated and tonight was no different.  Linda and I went hoping to get some information on whether or not the district would be willing to use the columns that go with the entry way blocks that say Glenoma School District 1932 if we were able to purchase them from the company awarded the demolition bid.

Needless to say we did not get that approval but were told that if we wanted to buy the columns then they would sell us the blocks that they kept but we would not be able to put any of the structure on school property due to liability issues.  Just one more roadblock.

Now for the sad news.  It was brought to our attention tonight that the company that received the bid, Rhine Demolition from Tacoma, may be begin the demolition as early as next week.

I will try to get the video up tomorrow night.

Variety Shows

I have tried to think of topics that former Glenoma students, staff, and parents would like to share through this blog. I have decided to start with variety shows for a couple of reasons.  They seem to bring out such positive emotions for people as they retell their memories of  performing and because the variety shows spanned a large group of Glenoma years.  While those of us that remember them in the late 80s and early 90s may have thought they were invented by us, the variety shows had actually taken place quite some time before that and were brought back to life by our own Patsy Gaut.

I will be trying to capture certain acts and linking them to the blog so that readers can go back and watch some of the crowd favorites.  Of course, there would be no way to put up a whole show as you may recall most of them were well over 2 hours long.  Patsy turned no one down when it came to joining the show.

What I need from you, the reader is to tell me exactly what acts you would like to see. I think I will try to start with Glenoma Valley PTA.  Write in and cast your vote for acts you would like to see (if you can remember the year of the act, that would help me greatly) and check back for GLENOMA VALLEY PTA.
